A number of local organisations are set to benefit, thanks to the mammoth charitable egg-collecting efforts of Torbay & District Funeral Service, based in St Marychurch, Torquay.

Almost 600 chocolate Easter eggs were donated to the firm by generous well-wishers, including Kitsons Solicitors, Slimming World, Babbacombe & Kingskerswell Groups, Somerville & Savage Solicitors, Tescos, Furrough Cross Nursery, St Marychurch Catholic Church, Babbacombe & St Marychurch & Newton Abbot Rotary, Buckland Athletic Football Club and many local small businesses, ministers, celebrants and residents of the Torbay area.

In addition to eggs donated, Torbay & District Funeral Service also received voucher and entry tickets for Woodlands Theme Park, Dartmoor Zoo, English Riviera Centre, Farm Foods and Trago Mills which were donated for a silent auction at the recent Angels Ball.
Now the team at Torbay & District have been busy handing out the tasty treats to good causes, including Children and Families in Grief, Checkpoint, Sanctuary Housing for Children and Mums within their care, and lots of local nursing and residential care homes.
The staff at Torbay & District said: “We were thrilled that so many organisations supported our appeal for chocolate cheer this Easter. When we distribute the eggs, it’s great to see the smiles on the recipients’ faces.”

The collection of the huge pile of Easter bunnies and eggs has been co-ordinated by Funeral Director Sarah Lockton and Funeral Arranger Amanda James, who said: “It might only be a small treat, but the smiles on people’s faces when they receive their gift are huge!

“We would like to thank everyone who has contributed, from passers-by enticed by our window-display, to the local businesses who gave us a donation to buy eggs.”
