The Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band, which is sponsored by the South Elmsall and Hemsworth funeral directors, put on a great performance, including Christmas carols that the congregation sang along to and festive musical arrangements.
The church was almost full, with the concert being attended by more than 200 people from the local community.
Funeral Director Brett Benton said: “Everyone commented on what a lovely evening it was, and it was great to see the community coming together to see their local brass band perform in their local church.
“We served mulled wine and mince pies in the interval, held a raffle and had a collection at the end of the evening. In total we raised an incredible total of £632 for St Mary’s Church Building Repair Fund, which they were really grateful for. Plans are already in the pipeline for next year’s concert!”
