From claret and blue to chocolate too

William H Painter Funeral Arranger Jeanette Husselbee with some of the collected eggs

William H Painter Funeral Directors in Birmingham are choc-full of cheer after collecting more than 500 Easter eggs for local good causes.

The tasty treats, along with jigsaws and craft materials, will be distributed to local nursing homes and hospitals including the Bromford Lane Care Centre, where football legend and former Aston Villa coach Jim Walker, will be lending a helping hand.

The collection of the huge pile of Easter bunnies and eggs has been co-ordinated by Castle Bromwich Funeral Arranger Jeanette Husselbee, who said: “It might only be a small treat, but the smiles on people’s faces when they receive their gift are huge!

“I would like to thank everyone who has contributed, from passers-by enticed by our window-display, to the chemists at the Castle Practice who gave us a donation to buy eggs, as well as to Tesco and Morrisons.”

The various branches of William H Painter, which is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year, are also organising raffles and holding an Easter egg hunt, as well as collecting Easter eggs.

Those to receive the goodies on offer include Solihull Action through Advocacy in Chelmsley Wood as well as the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where youngsters will also receive brand new craft items including sticker and colouring books, paper and crayons.
