Caring Angie takes on new role

When qualified dental nurse Angie Collyer saw the funeral home opposite her place of work in Guildford advertise for a new Funeral Arranger, she had no hesitation in switching careers and joining them.

Angie, 49, is a well-known face in the local community, having worked at Woodbridge Hill Dental Practice for 29 years.

However, she felt drawn to work at James & Thomas Funeral Directors after the firm’s sister company in Woking had conducted the funerals of both her parents, Ray and Betty Smith.

“They were so wonderful when I lost my parents,” she explained, “that I realised I, too, could help people in the same way. They had been so good at making me feel at ease and helping me through such a difficult period.”

James Ray, Area Manager for James & Thomas, said: “We have a reputation for reliability, trust and quality and are so pleased to welcome Angie to our team, who brings a wealth of customer service and care experience. When someone you love passes, it’s so comforting to sit down with a friendly and familiar face; it makes the daunting process of arranging a funeral that little bit easier.

“We deliver bespoke funerals for all faiths with the utmost respect and care and welcome all those who wish to come and see Angie and wish her well in this new and rewarding role; she will be more than happy to make you a cup of tea!”
