Sarah Tate, Funeral Arranger of J & L Sturney Directors, received a request from Christ Church, Emery Down in Lyndhurst, asking for help with renovating their war time memorial in readiness for the WWI 100th year anniversary.

Sarah enlisted the assistance of Steve Dent from Lockerley Stone & Masonry and with his skills, and a fair bit of elbow grease, the memorial has now been transformed.

Sarah said: “The church was extremely grateful for our help. Lyndhurst lost quite a few villagers during the war which obviously had an impact on the community and with some of the descendants still living here today it was a privilege to be able to help.”

The parish war memorial contains the inscribed names of 22 men who fell in the First World War and 4 who were killed in the Second World War.
