Working at the car wash – fundraising for Toby Nye

Staff from all five WM Dodgson Funeral Services branches in Leeds joined forces on Friday 14 July 2017 to run a fundraising car wash for four-year-old Toby Nye.

Toby was diagnosed on 6 January, his fourth birthday, with stage 4 Neuroblastoma, which is a rare type of cancer that mostly affects babies and young children.

Unfortunately, his current treatment isn’t working as expected, meaning his family need to pay for antibodies which will cost £200,000.

The team worked incredibly hard the entire day and managed to raise £430 to go towards funding Toby’s potentially lifesaving treatment.

Harehills branch Administrator Charlotte Ambler said: “Loads of passers-by donated money and by the end of the day we had cars queuing out of the car park.

“All of the branches across Leeds really came together to help raise as much money as we could and the atmosphere was absolutely brilliant.

“Toby is such a lovely and incredibly brave little boy. He came along in the afternoon to help us wash cars and soak the lads! He seemed to have a great time and we presented him with a few gifts from us all.

“We are going to continue to fundraise for his treatment by doing various events throughout the course of the year.”
