Food Bank Collection Point at Wilton Funeral Services, Bournemouth

Wilton Funeral Services continue to support the local church food bank by advertising in the window as a food bank collection point.

Kerry Crowson a Funeral Director at Wilton Funeral Services said: “The food bank was something they did before I had started here eighteen months ago”

The food bank is special to Wilton Funeral Services as Keith Ingram a Casual Funeral Services Operative’s wife helps to run the food bank at the church. Wilton Funeral Services has supported the local food bank for many years.

Kerry stated that: “we have a great response from the public and will be continuing the collection point”.

Chris White Funeral Directors sponsors Salisbury Event

In recent years Salisbury has received negative press, therefore the local council has decided to come together with local businesses to encourage people back to the town centre. The aim of this is to boost both income and morale for those who live and work in the area.

Community activity was a new venture by the council, and they created a Fayre within the square, including activities such as crazy golf and a bar.

Chris White Funeral Directors in Salisbury wanted to get involved by creating a banner to appear in the square. The banner was aimed at the public, so they could see the funeral director can be light-hearted in the right place or time but still maintain the corporate background.

Helen Gault said: “assuming it’s allowed, we shall continue to support our local council with these banners to keep our name in the local public domain”.

F Curtis and Son Warminster sponsors the Athenaeum Masqueraders

F Curtis & Son, Warminster sponsor the theatre company The Athenaeum Masqueraders for £400.

The company is based at The Athenaeum Centre in Warminster and is putting on a production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver due to come to the stage in October 2021.

Sarah Line a Funeral Arranger/ Administrator at F Curtis & Son was approached by Ben Griffiths the Director and Chairperson at The Athenaeum Masqueraders regarding a partnership. The theatre company was looking for a £400 sponsor to appear within the program.

F Curtis and Son are hoping to receive positive feedback from when the online promotion goes live, and the program comes out in October.

F Curtis and Son are always looking to support the local community and will try their best to sponsor more local companies in the future.

L C Hill & Son’s donation to FUEL

L C Hill and Son Funeral Directors organised a donation to FUEL a community activity camp, to support local families in need.

Fuel is a free holiday activity and food program, which gives free places to eligible young people aged between 8 and 13 years old. FUEL provides a range of fun activities and nutritious meals to young people each day at their camp.

Caroline Joyce a Funeral Arranger and Administrator received amazing feedback from Anne Riot at FUEL, thanking her for the donation.

Anne said: “please would you pass on our sincere thanks for the generous contribution to our fund”.

Community Care Packages for The Hub

John Blenkiron & Sons supplied the local community centre ‘The Hub’ with donations towards their care packages. Joanna Ashwell a receptionist at John Blenkiron & Sons donated food items and treats for the care packages.  Therefore, the volunteers at The Hub could make the care packages and distribute them to people in need.

The Hub supplies care packages for people who can’t afford to feed themselves and have lost their income or have reduced incomes due to the Pandemic. Creating The Treesdale Care Package Campaign in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, providing trade to local businesses and the local community.

Rachel Tweddle the Chief Executive Officer of The Hub was grateful to receive the packages.

She said: “that is wonderful news. We are still delivering around 50 packages per week. thank you.”

An impressive window display by Banfield and Pomphrey Funeral Directors for World Photography Day. Banfield and Pomphrey are asking for the public to share their best moments and memories from lockdown to celebrate!

Mulhollands Funeral Directors donate to the Community Nursing Team

Mulholland Funeral Directors in Larne have donated sausage rolls, cakes, and scones to the Community Nursing Team.

They contacted the nursing team as one of Lynda’s (Funeral Arranger) colleagues know one of the nurses and arranged the donation with her.

The Community Nursing Team provides care within the community either at the patient’s home or a designated health care facility.

Mulholland’s Funeral Directors said, “involved with the local nursing team as they always provide a truly remarkable service, but especially during covid when their presence in a patient’s home a lifeline was”.

The Nursing team was overwhelmed with their afternoon tea and were humbled that they had thought of them.

Mulholland’s Funeral Directors plan to continue supporting this health care service in the future!

John Gray & Co launch Landscape Photography Competition

Last week John Gray and Co Funeral Directors and James Brown and Sons Funeral Directors launched their Photography Competition for Amateurs with a £200 prize, closing on the 20th of September 2021.

The theme for the competition is landscape, this topic was chosen as it’s an extremely popular genre and is accessible to most.  

Both Funeral Directors are raising awareness for the competition on their Facebook pages “you can prove once and for all the time and money spent on your favourite pastime has been worth it by participating in our photography competition”.

Joseph Poots & Son donates 500 bowling scorecards

Joseph Poots and Son Funeral Directors donates 500 bowling scorecards costing £78 to the local Portadown Bowling Team. The cards have Joseph Poots & Son details printed on them to advertise to the local community.

They started this initiative several years ago as a now ex-staff member Nixon Armstrong was a bowler.

Joseph Poots & Son aims to continue to supply these cards on an ongoing basis to help the local bowling team.  

Sharon Sloan said: the reaction from the donation “has been very well received by the local bowling club”.

Abbotsfield Funeral Directors donate plants to St Michael’s Hospice

Jacqui Williams a Funeral Arranger at Abbotsfield Funeral Directors donated plants to St Michael’s Hospice for the annual plant sale.

Jacqui’s family have always been great supporters of St Michael’s Hospice as they have looked after many of her relatives.

Abbotsfield Funeral Directors and Dawe Brothers, Hereford decided to get involved a few years back by donating plants which they had grown from seeds along with established plants.

Jacqui said that: “St Michael’s are always grateful to accept help and any donation, they do a wonderful job day in day out and are widely appreciated throughout Herefordshire.”

Abbotsfield Funeral Directors and Dawe Brothers are already planning on getting involved again next year!
