The team at John G Hogg Funeral Directors are collecting Easter eggs for Hope 4 All who support many local families and children.

Belated Christmas Celebration

Representatives from Hemming & Peace Funeral Services were recently invited to the Guild Hall by the Court Leet where they were presented with a certificate for joining the first Henley in Arden Advent Window Scheme.

Residents and businesses alike were allocated a number and revealed their Christmas window on the corresponding date in December.

Funeral Arranger Jayne Humphries said: “Whilst we were thanked for participating, we in turn are thrilled that organisations like the Court Leet work with the community to make these events special.”

Donation to Friendship Group

Katrina from Slaithwaite Funeral Services helped to deliver afternoon tea boxes to the homes of members of a local friendship group.

The boxes were provided by local café Ruddis Retreat to members of Good Companions.

The group holds weekly meetings for people aged 60 and over in the village.

Standing with Ukraine

Another excellent window display at Hayes, this time in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

The team at Elizabeth Way in Mosley worked with Millbrook Primary School and Arlies Primary school, two of six local schools they work with for their annual Easter colouring competition.

Prizes were awarded for 1st 2nd and 3rd for both schools, and everyone received a certificate and a small gift for taking part.

Spring has sprung at Raymond Massey Funeral Directors. They have used the space wisely to create an engaging spring scene to greet families in the funeral home.

Supporting Ukraine’s Children

Funeral Director Pauline Lawrence is collecting donations for baby formula milk to give to families who have been forced to flee due to the conflict in Ukraine.

Lambs, carrots, and daffodils –a perfect combination for this Spring themed window display at GW Turners. The team gave a unique twists on the typical Easter display by creating an Easter tree.

Supporting the people of Ukraine

A van filled to the brim with donations was taken to The Polski Centre in Liverpool to support the war-torn people of the Ukraine and the refugees who have fled the devastation as well as those who have stayed behind to defend their country.

Walking for the British Heart Foundation

Funeral Arranger Emma Welch walked her way through weekends in February for the British Heart Foundation raising £105.

Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal

The Marie Curie window display for Marie Curie’s annual fundraising appeal raised £49.03.

National Day of Reflection

William H Painter created a window display to mark the two-year anniversary of the first lockdown in the UK. A fitting tribute on such a poignant anniversary.

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Easter egg collection for Claire House Children’s Hospice.

At the car wash

Well done to Kavanagh & Coates, Heywood for hosting a charity car wash and raising  an incredible £216.50 for the Meningitis Research Foundation.  

Heywood’s Roads were full of sparkle as the vehicles they hold glistened in the spring sun.

Mother’s Day blooms

The team at W Storey Funeral Service donated 150 tulips to a local school for the smaller children to give to the special lady in their lives when they attend their Mother’s Day Assemblies.

World Book Day

We are pleased to share the winning pictures from W Storey Funeral Service’s first World Book Day drawing competition with Belmont Primary School.

One winner from each year group was chosen who received a certificate and a book as shown in the pictures.

Funeral Arranger Francesca Capaldi said: “It was very hard to judge as all the pictures were excellent so, as an added extra, we have distributed a “well done” certificate to all the children who took part!”

National Day of Reflection

Huge congratulations to Funeral Director Katie Freeman who celebrates 10 years of service at Roy Quinton Funeral Directors this month.

She said: “I can’t believe how quick the time has gone, starting at Roy Quinton’s as a teenage Funeral Arranger with no experience to becoming an experienced Funeral Director, now celebrating my tenth year at Funeral Partners! Over the years, I have met some wonderful families, I feel so lucky to of formed friendships with many professionals including Ministers, Celebrants and bereavements service staff. Easter Raffle

Diamond & Son Funeral Directors sold raffle tickets to raise money for Child Bereavement UK.

Child Bereavement UK supports families and teaches professionals when a baby or child of any age passes away, or when a child is facing bereavement.

The lucky winner was announced on the 14th of April and won a beautiful Easter Hamper.

Pass on Preloved Items

Melia Powell Funeral Service are supporting Pass on Preloved Items (POPI) Baby Bank Registered Charity No. 1183129. They’re collecting new/nearly new vests or sleepsuits (12-18 months) to pass on to local families in need. If you’d like to help – donations can be left with us at the Cavendish Street branch Monday-Friday, 12-2pm.
