Supporting Woking & Sam Beare Hospice – that’s how we row

Staff from Woking Funeral Service and James & Thomas Funeral Directors joined forces, along with representatives from Brookwood cemetery, to participate in an annual Dragon Boat Race to raise funds for Woking & Sam Beare Hospice.

19 staff came together on 25 June to form the team ‘The Undertake Oars’ – putting their best oar forward in the race held at Goldsworth Park Lake, Woking. The team came 9th overall in the 3 races, but came 1st for the 2nd year in a row for best fancy dress. This year as super heroes.

The Woking & Sam Beare Hospice provides free of charge holistic care and support services to adult patients of all ages, who have life-limiting and terminal illnesses across the region of North West Surrey.

Area Development Manager, James Ray said: “The hospice provides such an important service in the local community.

“Taking part in this event enabled us to support them in a dignified and unique way, alongside other like-minded caring people and organisations.

“The atmosphere was incredible with many people gathering to support the teams and enjoy the BBQ, bouncy castle and other activities on the lakeside.”

The team have so far managed to raise £265 for the hospice. If you would like to make a donation please visit Just Giving:
