A fitting tribute for local chimney sweep

Funeral Arranger Lisa Hodges organised an impressive and completely bespoke funeral for local chimney sweep Colin ‘Sooty’ Phelps.
Originally his wife Celia came into the Bournemouth branch of Wilton Funeral Services looking for something fairly low key and simple but, after talking through options with Lisa, she planned a totally unforgettable and unique tribute.
Lisa organised a fabulous, personalised Reflections coffin, and arranged for a couple of local sweeps to hold their brushes above the coffin as it entered the chapel at the crematorium.
Lisa said: “The entire service was absolutely beautiful, ‘Sooty’ had entry music from Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews and his exit music was the theme tune to ‘Only Fools & Horses’. He was also a huge AFC Bournemouth fan, so all of the staff wore red ties.
“ Its days like this that make the job so wonderful. Being able to deliver on all of Celia’s wishes was a great feeling and gave her ‘Sooty’ a service he would have loved.”
