Woking Funeral Director Caitlin Maguire is top of the class after getting the best grades in the National Association of Funeral Directors’ Diploma in Funeral Directing exams in the whole of the UK.
Caitlin 25, from Woking Funeral Service, said: “I was extremely thrilled when I found out I passed as the course was so challenging. When my tutor phoned to tell me I had come top among all those who took it, I couldn’t quite believe it. “I attended a meal in Birmingham, where I was presented with the High Achiever’s Award along with my Diploma Certificate, a £100 prize and a bouquet of flowers; it was all surreal. “I have been at Woking now for just over two years and would like to thank my colleagues not only for their support during the course, but also for showing me best practice.”
Woking Funeral Service is the town’s longest serving funeral home and has always strived to be the best since its establishment in 1880.
James Ray, Area Development Manager for Woking Funeral Service, added: “This course really challenges a Funeral Director or Arranger to learn all aspects of death, religion and legalities surrounding funerals. We’re all extremely proud of Caitlin.
“It tops an exceptional year for us, which has included extensive investment in our premises, with a state-of-the-art cultural wash room and a brand new mortuary. We have also created a private service chapel that facilitates the needs of all faiths and we have installed new facilities for people with disabilities.”
