A N Abraham Funeral Directors proudly sponsored a charity concert that took place on 21 May with The Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band as the guest artist.

Over 300 people attended the concert and entry was free with a collection which raised over £300 to help offset the costs of the new roof for Wakefield Cathedral.

The Canon Rev Derek Walmsley thanked the band and Wakefield Funeral Home, who also sponsored the event, for their support and the branch’s name was on each programme given to the audience. The feedback was excellent and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the concert with music for all tastes.

Area Development Manager Kevin Moxon said: “Further charitable concerts are in the pipeline and it is good to see, with help from our sponsorship, this community based self-funded band now progressing and enjoying further success in what is regarded by all bandsmen as the ‘hotbed’ of banding, not only in the Yorkshire region but the world.”
